1.A shout out goes to the National Association
of African Americans in the Department of Homeland Security (NAADHS)(refer to www.NAADHS.org).NAADHS held its 4th Professional Development & Training Conference, Shaping Tomorrow’s Furture Today”, July 6 – 10, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana.. I gave a one hour presentation on Political Savvy on July 8th. I spent more time in airports than in New Orleans, but I had the orpporunity to meet a great group of people while at the conference. The NAADHS walks the talk by giving five scholarships to Black high school graduates who are starting college and college students as well as mentoring the students after the scholarships are awarded.Special acknowledgements go to George Goliiday, III, the President of NAADHS, Linda Phillips and Jennifer Bourgeois, Scholarship Committee Chairpersons.
2.I also had the opportunity to meet Keith A. Jones, Deputy Executive Director, Office of the Chief Information Officer Information Technology Services Office.Mr. Jones is in the Federal Senior Executive Services (SES) which means he is in top management pool.It was my honor to meet and talk with him briefly after my presentation in New Orleans.He is sharp!!!!You heard it from me first.He definitely will advance further.It is just a matter of time!!!!
